Hello and Welcome!
It was in our General store, very early on that I got my first exposure to sales and customers occasionally running the shop on my own during school holidays, never realising that customer service was to be my destiny!
It’s with great reluctance that I spill the beans on myself, but here goes.
I was born in Subiaco, Perth,
West Australia a long time ago. At age eleven I was sent to boarding school; Guildford Grammar in Perth as my parents were running a General Store in Darkan about 200 kilometres south east of
Perth . Darkan was a bit of an outpost and there was no secondary school in the region. It was in our General store, very early on that I got my first exposure to retail and customers occasionally running the shop on my own during school holidays, never realising it was to be my destiny!
Following school, I spent a year at University of West Australia doing medical based science and then transferred to the
University of
Queensland to study Bachelor of Vet Science. Upon registering as a Vet I moved to
Melbourne and began my working career with Neville Sanders at East Ivanhoe Vet clinic. After two and a half years it was time to see the world and I made the customary pilgrammage to England, working in Battersea, Kensington and Chelsea Vet Clinics squeezing jaunts to
Europe in between.
On my return to
Melbourne I purchased Mentone Vet Clinic and remained in private practice for 18 years until acquiring Therapon in 1993.
I live in
Brighton because it’s by the sea and I’m passionate about water sports like sailboarding and kite surfing and on weekends you may find me walking my board on a trolley heading down the footpath to the beach. I also like cycling on Sunday mornings along Beach Road if the weather is smiling. I try to enjoy a healthy lifestyle in terms of diet and exercise, it holds me in good stead to deal with the challenges of running a complex business such as Therapon.
